Logging in....so many to remember!
After discussing the rules of the computer lab I am sure you are all ready to jump in and get started! Today we are going to log in to the macbook, the Internet and Google Drive. I know you can't access this before you log in but I wanted to have it as a reference. As we investigate additional tools, we will add to this reference sheet.
Google Drive - Creating and Sharing Folders
Next we need to setup a folder in your Google Drive for your Instructional Technology class or, otherwise known as IT. Here are the instructions. Open the document and follow the instructions...if you get stuck raise your hand.
New Document to begin our Wordle Project
Wordle.net allows you to create a Word Cloud which shows the frequency of words in a given text (like a speech, or music lyrics or in a book) by displaying the words that occur most often larger than those that are less frequent. It is a quick and easy way to analyze words. Why would we want to do use this? How could this be helpful? Think about it...We will discuss it as a class and then begin creating a Word Cloud about you.
Go to Wordle.net and look at some of the cool looking word clouds that other kids have created. Then get started on your own by creating your list of words in a Google document. Remember, the more often a word appears, the bigger it will be. What is the most important word in a word cloud that is about you?
Create a list of words that tell me about you - what do you like? Who is in your family? What are the names of your pets? You need to have twenty different words, but you will have more than 20 because the important words need to appear in your list more than once. Create your list in a Google document and then paste them in to Wordle. This way you can change your list without having to recreate your list over and over again!!
We will need to create a Google document.
Don't copy your list into Wordle just yet...Make sure you save your document.
